Welcome to Von den Zwillingsbergen Kennels.  We raise and train German Shepherds to the breed standards of the SV (the breed registry in Germany).

Our philosophy is that the German Shepherd Dog needs to maintain and improve its working abilities while also having good conformation and temperament.  Therefore, our dogs are Schutzhund trained and also shown in the conformation ring.  We do not breed for extremes, rather we breed for a well rounded German Shepherd that meets the breed standard.

Our home is located on the Eastern side of the Sierra Nevada mountains just below Lake Tahoe.  We are centrally located between Reno and Carson City and within a short 25 minute drive to the airport.  The area features ideal weather for the dogs.  Summers are seldom hot  and in winter the snow only stays on the valley floor for a few days at a time.  The Sierras receive abundant snow for skiing and is a source of water for the surrounding area.  Tourism is king and the area offers both outdoor recreation and indoor fun in the form of casinos and gaming. 

We actively train several days a week.  Dawn is the President of the Blue Tahoe Schutzhund Club and Tim is the training helper.  We also have started a new club in Las Vegas and are actively training with the new group in addition to training with our Reno club. Our philosophy is to promote safe training and fun for both the dog and the handler.  Not all dogs or handlers can be trained the same way and we assist the dog and handler in finding a training method that is effective for them.  Training is also a time for the club members to enjoy friendship and exchange ideas.  

We travel across the USA and also to Canada and Europe participating in German Shepherd events.  We are a very successful hobbyist kennel and enjoy helping others who are interested in the sport of Schutzhund and in raising a quality German Shepherd Dog.
